My name is Daniel Norman and I am passionate about teaching Physics and Math. I  have extensive classroom experience as well as a busy private practice tutoring students from middle school through college in all levels of mathematics and Physics.

I am currently available for in person or remote tutoring in NYC and remote tutoring anyplace else.

I received my PhD in Physics from the University of Connecticut, where I taught undergraduate physics for six years. I also earned a Master’s in Physics from Brown University, where I taught summer physics classes to middle and high school students.

Despite my early struggles with dyslexia, my passion for teaching math and physics grew from my personal experience with one-on-one attention, which showed me how transformative individualized support can be. â€‹

I am comfortable working with students from a variety of backgrounds and understand that confusion in math and physics often stems from missing a key concept early on. My teaching focuses on identifying and correcting these foundational gaps, helping students quickly go from feeling lost to confident.

Math and physics are interconnected webs of ideas and therefore my approach emphasizes problem-solving strategies that fit each student’s unique learning style. By guiding students to discover the methods that work best for them, they are empowered and able to gain a personal understanding of the material.

Whether or not students pursue careers in math or science, I believe mastering these subjects builds lifelong problem-solving skills.

I have earned the following degrees and certifications:

  • PhD in Physics, University of Connecticut

  • Master of Science in Physics, Brown University

  • BS Physics with Philosophy Minor, Tufts University

  • Marshall J. Walker Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award
